The Somers product made an argument as the top lineman in pod 5 when it came to production. He had the quickest first step and it wasn’t very close. He used his elite agility to absolutely smoke multiple offensive lineman that are highly ranked in the classes of 2024 and 2025 here in New York. His get off was one of the best I saw and he had incredible hand work in his reps and individual drills. He did it in several positions on the line and he showed why he had over 20 sacks last year, he’ll be one of the top edge rushers once again this season.

Ryan Cole Ryan Cole 6'2" | 220 lbs | DL Somers | 2024 State NY is more of a Edge/OLB than a true defensive end but he showed this season that he is one of the most productive defensive players in New York. Cole has solid athleticism but when he wins reps it usually is because of his elite motor, strong football IQ, and solid mechanics as a pass rusher. Cole also is really disciplined on the edge and rarely gets caught out of position and while he does show aggression and the ability to make a ton of plays he is very good at staying patient and never being overaggressive losing contain or opening running lanes for cutbacks. Cole does have solid size, but is a little bit of a tweener with his athleticism but based on his high school tape, the edge is where he belongs.

Ryan Cole Ryan Cole 6'2" | 220 lbs | DL Somers | 2024 State NY is one of the most accomplished players in this class already and the edge rusher had a great season which included 30 TFL and 22 Sacks. Cole has incredible burst off the snap and his ability to win as a speed rusher with really strong rip move around the outside or just win with power makes him a diverse pass rusher. Cole does a great job of containing the edge and his ability to make tackles in 1v1 situations against smaller quicker plays is one of his best traits. Cole showed he can rush the passer from both sides of the line but what is more impressive than his 22 sack season is how most of his TFL come 3+ yards behind the LOS. Cole is quick, strong, and explosive making plays that not many other players can make in New York.

Ryan Cole Ryan Cole 6'2" | 220 lbs | DL Somers | 2024 State NY has been a defensive leader for Somers all season and he had a really great game in the Final. Cole registered the only Sack on the day and added five tackles on the day. Union-Endicott struggled to get their ground game going averaging only 2.6 yards per carry. Cole was in the backfield and making plays around the LOS throughout the game and he did a really good job of stopping the run all day.
