Ogden put together one of his best games of the year when they needed it most. South Vigo came to play, and they found themselves in a heavy-hitting game. Ogden was playing with a sense of urgency that you need when it’s do or die. He ended the game with 12 tackles, 1 TFL, an interception, and then forced a fumble. It was a complete game from him from start to finish, and I liked how physical he was.
Ogden is a versatile player who can play both the second and third levels. He’s been hyper-productive over the past few years and has a good eye for the ball. He’s able to make open-field tackles and cut off big plays. His 104 tackles, 18 TFLs, 3 sacks, 3 interceptions, 2 passes deflected, and 3 forced fumbles on the year loaded up the statbook, but showed just how versatile he can be. He’s sideline to sideline down after down, and his motor is hard to duplicate.
Ogden broke out in a big way this year and showed what he’s fully capable of. He doubled his production across the board, going from 52 tackles as a sophomore to 104 this past season. He also bumped his TFLs from 10 to 18, added 3 interceptions, and forced 3 fumbles. He’s a complete linebacker who plays with range, reads things quickly, and doesn’t miss many opportunities when the ball is near. The jump he made this year was impressive and he’s trending in the right direction heading into his senior season.
Ogden has improved each season he’s been on the field and added another weapon to his repertoire each year. The biggest difference from his sophomore to junior year was his ability to get after the QB and live behind the line. His total tackle count nearly doubled as well. With 104 tackles, 18 TFLs, 3 sacks, 3 interceptions, and 3 forced fumbles Ogden had a complete year. He’s big, covers plenty of space, yet can come be a force in the running game. If more schools caught wind of him he would blow up.
We’re going to be battling baseball recruiters for Ogden, but I promise his upside and potential is worth it. A 6’3″ safety who is thick, has good range, and is just as flexible as the 5’11” guy. He’s just one of those guys who seems to pick up sports and things very naturally. If he’s not hitting dingers on the baseball diamond he’s leveling a ball carrier on the football field. As an underclassman he was a very healthy 200 lbs. He certainly has a LB build for Saturdays but his range and ability to see the field makes you wonder if he should stay back there.
