The Rice commit is one of the top 2025 DL prospects in northern California. At 6’2” 270 lbs. he’s got excellent size and growth potential for the interior line at the college level. He’s a powerful initial striker with the natural strength in his lower body and hands to take over the line of scrimmage. Quick and violent hands allow him to control blockers and then shed to disengage from contact. Shows he can work laterally and chase to close space on the ball carrier against both the run and pass. Rooks is currently the #12 DL prospect in the state and #103 overall. Holds 17 total offers.

announced his commitment to Rice last week.
Rooks had 85 tackles, 22 for a loss, 10.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, a blocked punt and two blocked field goals last season.
He has dominated the champ circuit this offseason and was a MVP at the National Preps Showcase in Northern California.
Rooks chose Rice over 16 other schools that offered him including Harvard, UNLV and Washin9gton State. He is the second player from California in Rice’s 2025 recruting class.

Rooks remains one of the top uncommitted defensive linemen in the state as we head into July, and could be closing in on a decision sooner rather than later. Rooks holds 17 offers to this point, and has attended the Sac State, Stanford and Cal camp this summer and done well at each one, especially in the one on one’s against top competition. He has locked in and visited Rice this past weekend on his first Official Visit and is a name to note as we move through summer as to where he could wind up.

Rooks is one of the more sought after defensive linemen across the Northern California region, and picked up another FBS offer from Washington State last month. He has racked up 17 offers so far this Spring/early summer and will be taking Official visits coming up over the next few weeks. Look for other G5 teams to possibly get into the mix through the summer and potentially offer.

Rooks has exploded over the last three months, and is up to 15 Division I offers already at this point in the Spring. He was recently offered by Rice and UC Davis over the weekend, and should be closing in on his first P4 offer sooner rather than later. He has visited UC Davis and Rice this Spring and will be at Cal this upcoming weekend. Look for the North Bay product to be one of the more sought after and highly recruited prospects coming out of that region in recent memory.

Rooks has seen his recruitment explode over the last six weeks, and has quickly become one of the fastest rising northern California prospects. The 3-star defensive tackle can play anywhere along the defensive line, and is one of the more technically sound players in the region and is coming off a state-title winning season for St. Vincent de Paul. He projects as a defensive tackle in college due to his frame/size and he has recently picked up offers from Army, Navy, Idaho, Montana State and Harvard over the last couple weeks, and should be closing in on his second G5 offer. Already holding 12 Division I offers, look for Rooks to be one of the best defenders in all of Norcal in 2024 and a be huge part of the small school power offensive and defensive lines.

Rooks is one of the fastest rising prospects in Northern California, and is up to 7 offers now, collecting a few more last week from the likes of Cornell, Georgetown and Columbia. He should be closing in on a couple more here soon, and should be above the 10 offer mark by the time we get into the summer. A high academic kid with elite athleticism for the defensive line position, and plays with tremendous technique and short area twitch/explosion, and it is only a matter of time until he lands another G5/MWC offer.

Rooks is one of the most technically sound and violent players across the Bay Area in this 2025 class and is a no brainer FBS caliber kid with untapped potential. He is a heavy striker that explodes from his hips out of his stance and quickly gets his hands on blockers with a violent inside punch and quick lock out/violent disengage. He is a very versatile kid that can play either inside or out in space on the edge, and has a variety of different pass rush moves at his disposal while knowing when to win with speed, power, or counter back inside. He shows quick block recognition, can redirect and make plays in space, while quickly able to defeat reaches and double teams against the run and is a very high IQ prospect. His versatile skill set agains the pass and run, while flashing great closing speed in space and ability to apply pressure from various angles make him very intriguing. Yale has already offered, with other FBS/FCS schools most likely to follow suit soon. Anchoring one of the best small school teams in the state in 2023 and leading St. Vincent de Paul to a state title, Rooks is one of the top ’25 defensive lineman Norcal has to offer.
