Highly ranked as an EDGE rusher (leading the team in sacks and TFLs), Donohue is so much more to the Red Hawks. He also played RB, LG and Special Teams last year. He seemingly never left the field and he made his presence known. Richard has a unique blend of speed, power and strength. He is one of the best athletes in WNY but doesn’t get the credit he deserves.

I covered a couple of Iroquois games in 2024 and while their passing attack got most of the news, what caught my attention was Donohue. Richard never left the field. He was a factor in all three aspects of the game as a RB, DE and special teamer. Then when injuries hit the Redhawks OL, he moved to Left Guard and played extremely well. This is a player whose name needs to be out there and college scouts should watch in 2025.

One of my favorite breakout candidates for 2024, Donohue did not disappoint. He may have been overlooked because he could play so many positions. At DE, he was solid racking up 30 tackles (12 for loss) and 5 sacks. On offense, he was a Fullback then when injuries hit their OL late in the year, he unselfishly moved to Left Guard. This is a special player that will get recognition as a senior.

There is no doubt Richard Donohue Richard Donohue Richard Donohue 6'0" | 210 lbs | EDGE Iroquois | 2026 State NY is set for a breakout season. After dominating JV in the first several weeks of his sophomore year, Donohue was brought up to varsity for the final three games. In those three games, he recovered two fumbles and proved he belongs in the upper level. Richard has been working hard this off-season and will put Class B on notice.
