Could easily move this young man into the top 80-90, grades are that razor thin in terms of margin. Many on this list have no collegiate traction at all, nice to see Spotswood’s Rayne Dean Rayne Dean 6'3" | 225 lbs | ATH Spotswood | 2025 State VA at least garnering attention in the form of JDIs. Lengthy junior tape full of two-way production. 650+ scrimmage yards, six scores to his name, an obvious option for tight-end, yet his first rep on tape illustrates he can beat angles set by DBs in the open-field, he has a bit of stride and acceleration to his name, not as stiff as one would figure. Wheels, seam benders, curls, and over routes are all viable options among Dean’s route tree. Can be found behind the LOS in an H-back role, can serve a traditional outside-inside slot role as well, especially inside of 20 yards. An impact blocker, often used in counter/trap sets. Hand-eye coordination resembles that of wideouts as well, package his red-zone abilities and you have an ideal option for fades thrown to the pylons. One would have to figure that Rayne Dean Rayne Dean 6'3" | 225 lbs | ATH Spotswood | 2025 State VA could likely serve an EDGE/OLB/DE role if explored there. I almost cut off his tape without any knowledge of his role on defense, I highly recommend restructuring tape to mix in WR reps with EDGE reps before his defensive prowess goes unnoticed. 70 total tackles and ten sacks were almost lost, not many coaches go this deep into initial tape. Dean is legitimately a better defender than he is a TE/WR prospect. His rank would skyrocket had I have seen his sacks six minutes into his tape. Regardless of these frustrations, this is an offerable prospect TODAY. Dean sprinkles in athleticism to a skillset that lands on the power end of the EDGE spectrum. Production alone should open eyes. I could realistically see Dean land as a 4-3 traditional EDGE rusher, he’d likely have to hone his skills and develop further tech at the position. A lot to love out of this young man’s tape, likely only a matter of time before FCS schools pull the trigger. I could see him snowball into a higher level as well.
