at the beginning of this season as one of the top players to watch this fall that was coming off an injury-riddled 2023 season. Hurt was primed for a monster junior season but that was cut short before he could get any kind of momentum with a season-ending injury. His coach Javon Harris said this offseason that he was back to 100 percent and ready to make up for lost time and we’ve definitely seen it from him this season. After watching him in person and on film, it’s safe to say that he’s one of the best running backs in the state’s class. He has an incredibly strong lower body that allows him to absorb contact and either bounce off it to the open field or plow forward for extra yards.

is that star running back we referred to earlier in the preview. The dynamic playmaker would tear his ACL as a junior and he is 100 percent and ready to roll this season. The last time we saw Hurt on the field and healthy, he was a very fun player to watch. He’s definitely going to come into this season feeling like he has something to prove after missing almost all of last season and that’s scary for the rest of Class 6A-2. And when we look at the 6A-2 landscape going into this fall, there aren’t many running backs that should go ahead of him. He is near the top of the list of comeback players that we’re ready to see how the story unfolds.

is on our short list of running backs to watch this season after he missed almost all of his junior season with a knee injury. We watched Hurt in person last spring and he looked primed for a big 2023 season before the injury would sideline him. Fast forward to this summer and Hurt is definitely going to try and make up for lost time this fall. Hurt is ready to pick up where he left off and with Lawton Eisenhower moving up to Class 6A-2, it’s going to allow Hurt to perform on an even bigger platform and they could end up being a playoff team. Hurt is definitely a running back that could benefit in a major way from a big fall.

is in the same boat as Knighten and perhaps they can both look at Robinson as examples of that comeback story. Hurt tore his ACL in 2023 and his junior season was done before it could ever get momentum. The last time we saw Hurt in person, he was without a doubt one of the best players on the field at the Choctaw team camp. Hurt is going to definitely be a player to watch for Lawton Ike this fall as they make the move up to 6A-2. We think that they could certainly be a playoff team and perhaps a dark horse for much more. With Hurt healthy, however ironic that is, he could have a big 2024 season.

and he continues to be a top prospect to keep track of moving forward. Like Idabel, Lawton Eisenhower is not lacking talent in some of the skill departments and Hurt leads that group right now. Hurt was one of our favorite running backs that we watched during our team camp tour back in May and June. And his recruitment took off following a strong spring. He started earning offers shortly after the team camps and he followed up a strong offseason with a good start to his junior season. It’s going to be interesting to see how his recruitment continues as we get closer to the offseason and Hurt has a chance to showcase his talents at various camps and other events.

Lawton Eisenhower got their 2023 football season off to a great start with a dominant win over Ardmore in week zero. The Eagles lit up the scoreboard and their high-scoring offense was led by junior running back

on the offensive side of the ball. The Lawton Ike standout finished the game with just over 200 yards and three touchdowns on the ground on just 15 carries. This week, Hurt and the Eagles head into rivalry week as they’ll face #8 Lawton MacArthur. Hurt will have to take his game up a level as they face a Highlander team that is incredibly talented and they have a defense that flies around all over the field. This week’s game will certainly be a challenge but if Hurt and the Eagles can pull off the upset, they will grab a lot of attention in Class 5A. Hurt was a running back we liked when we saw him in the spring and he’s off to a good start this season.
