Expert Analysis

I have been wanting to get a live look at Quone for awhile and I wasn’t disappointed with what I saw. Burks is now listed at 344 lbs and takes up a lot of space at NT for Middleton. The big man was able to eat up blocks, leading to the Middleton LBs flying around to get pressure or make tackles against the run game. Burks also flashed the ability to collapse the pocket and force the QB to roll out one way or the other. Even though he didn’t get home, Quone impacted the rhythm of the passing game at times for VPM.

Stats: 5 Tackles
Quone is a monster holding down the middle of the Middleton defense. He now weighs in well over the 300 lbs mark, yet the senior NT is pretty light on his feet as he uses lateral quickness to position himself in ways to win battles with leverage. The senior DT also has the hands of a heavyweight boxer. Hands that have an impressive initial punch. They also allow him to easily control and shed OL. Quone also has sufficient mobility to corral QBs/RBs within the tackle box. Keep an eye on the force in the middle of the Middleton defense.

The 6’1″ 290 lbs DT out of Middleton has been making a 1st Team All Conference impact for the past two seasons now. The big man is the type of athlete who can make an impact on his own. He isn’t just a space eater. Burks shows off strong hands that push-pull or shove IOL to the side with ease. Quone also has nimble feet that give him the chance to slide laterally while on his rush. The pass rush moves match his quick feet. Quone has an effective swim move and has that short area burst to get to the heels of his OL with that swim move. Burks is an athlete who can collapse the pocket from the interior. Don’t sleep on the junior DL.

The 6’1″ 290 lbs sophomore made the biggest jump in the rankings with a 53 spot jump. The big man has proven to be very stout against the run. He is able to stand up OL, use his upper body strength to shed the block or toss them to the side, and then make the tackle. Quone does an impressive job of finding the ball while engaged with his man. That allows him to react quickly and find ways to get into position to make tackles. He isn’t there to just eat up blocks. Burks has also developed quick lateral agility. He is able to quickly slide one way or the other giving him the advantage of only having to beat half a man instead of attacking head to head. Expect the climb to continue for the dominant DT.
