Paxton has put together a career to remember at Medford. You can see the percentages above and quickly realize how important he was to his team that won 10 games while making a deep playoff run. Even more impressive, is that his rushing yardage, yds/game, and TDs were all second best in the entire state this season. So the huge workload was well warranted for the UW- Eau Claire RB commit. It directly translated to the win column. Paxton has made a strong case for earning this honor.

Maybe the top senior steal at the entire Showcase was Medford senior RB Paxton Rothmeier. He is coming off a pair of insanely productive seasons and looking to make one last impression as he finds his college home. On Sunday the senior checked in at 5’9″ 175 lbs with just shy of 10″ hands. He ran 4.32 in the 5-10-5, and 6.98 in the L-Drill. Those two outstanding numbers do a great job of illustrating Paxton’s game. The short area burst, agility, and change of direction and the power in his legs out of those changes of direction shined at the Showcase and on the football field this fall. That has allowed him to be able to run inside or outside and create plays off the space that he is able to make with that agility. A team needs to come in and steal the senior ball carrier.

I’m excited to shine the spotlight on Paxton this Sunday. The senior had an outstanding season as he led his team to a near state berth. While doing so, Paxton also was one of the top rushers in the state. The senior is uncommitted and looking for his next home, so I’m expecting to see him come out and put on a show to prove he belongs at the next level. I want to see his testing numbers and also watch how he moves in drills as well as how he does as a receiver out of the backfield vs LBs. Paxton is a name that teams will hear about and want to look into. So get a head start.

Another week, another massive performance from the Medford workhorse RB. The vision on display in this game was a key to his dominating performance. Paxton did a great job following the initial blocking, finding other blocking at the second level and in space to utilize, and also finding lanes to cut back through when needed. Rothmeier also flashed his speed once he burst through the hole that those blocks set up. The consistency that this senior RB has in terms of production that leads to victories is exceptional. Give the northern WI stud a watch through on his highlights.

. Paxton is an experience runner with over 270 career carries. Even with all the playing time, Paxton has never looked better. He is on the doorstep of 1,00 yards through 5 games and is averaging an unbelievable 10.1 yds/carry. That is two yards more than his elite 2023 season average. Paxton is dominant attacking outside the tackles. He has the speed to stretch the defense out and then get up field. The senior can flip a switch once upfield where he can cut laterally on a dime, start/stop in a flash, or anything else it takes to make a closing defender miss in space. He can go from full speed, downhill to elusive and very shifty so quickly. Paxton does a great job finding the hole and either hitting it, or pressing the hole then cutting outside or to a cutback lane last second. He is quick to find the most effective path to yards. He is on the rise.

Rothmeier ran his way to a great night and a team win vs Holmen in Week 1. The 5’9″ 180 lbs back may be undersized for a workhorse back, but the senior is no stranger to a high usage rate. Paxton made a lot of plays in Week 1 that highlighted his elusiveness in a phone booth. You see him run into a crowd and somehow come out of the other side and then he is off to the races. Paxton’s agility and burst give him that short area success and when he gets in the open field the senior is showing that he won’t go down easy. His balance through contact and a surprisingly effective stiff arm show up in the highlights from Week 1 as he gained a good chunk of his 170 yards after some contact. Check out the quick highlights below!

helped Medford to an impressive 8-3 season on the back of his 1,457 rushing yards and 22 TDs. The 5’8″ 175 lbs back gave northern WI defenses nightmares trying to contain him. Paxton’s tape shows a ball carrier who knows how to set up blocks and defenders, finds cutback lanes quickly, can make defenders miss with agility, and has the speed to break loose for the big play. The junior also excels as a one cut back. He doesn’t waste time dancing. Paxton sticks his foot in the ground and accelerates through the gap he is attacking. Look for him to finish strong in 2024.
