Expert Analysis
Patton Fitzpatrick | Prep Redzone Scout
The 6’6, 230 lb Northbrook product is one of the top tight end prospects in a loaded class from the state of Illinois this year. The Northwestern commit is staying close to home. Schaller has a massive frame and moves extremely well. He is a smooth route runner and showcases the ability to make contested catches. His height in the red zone is obviously a major asset, but Schaller tape flashes with all different types of catches. He is more of a wide receiver than a true blocking tight end, but also excels when asked to block smaller defensive backs as well as defensive ends. Schaller is also an excellent basketball player and also showcases some impressive plays at outside linebacker.

(Class of 2024) is another tight end to get excited about as we head into the 2023 football season. Standing at 6’6, Patrick is a huge target that can get an offensive moving. Patrick seems to be one of the twitchiest tight ends in this group and excels in running and completing quick and intermediate routes. On the other side of the tight-end spectrum, Patrick is also a strong and physical blocker that allows his teammates to find more yards whenever he is called to do so. Overall, it is clear that Patrick is one of the more well-rounded tight ends in the class of 2024. From what I can tell, the Northwestern Wildcats landed a big-time tight end who is going to do some big things in the future.

A 6’6, 220 lb. TE from the talent-laden Glenbard area west of Chicago and used his sophomore varsity season to propel him to an FBS offer from Central Michigan in May and in a prime position to break out in the fall of 2022. His productive summer camp season and handful of summer visits didn’t hurt either, and on October 8th he joined the ranks of P5 recruits as Northwestern offered a scholarship. Boston College followed two days later with an ACC offer. His 6’8 wingspan and basketball background aid in his large catch radius and ability to reel in the ball through contact, and overall Schaller is a fluid athlete who can line up in the slot or the perimeter and consistently run solid routes and get open, especially at 6’6. High ceiling, especially as a pass catcher.
