About Owen

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

Honey Badger. I am extremely intelligent and a student of the game. I am physical at the point of attack.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

Honey Badger. I am intensely competitive and want to win. I will wear down and outwork my opponent.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

The most important thing to me is winning. I push myself and my teammates to be our best and to really "know" the game of football. It's important to me that my teammates and I compete to be our best, both on and off the field. I volunteer my time to help younger kids in our sports leagues. I have volunteered in youth football, youth basketball, and youth baseball.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

My family moved during my sophomore year and I had to start fresh in a new school. Changing schools can be difficult but I jumped right in and made the basketball team and even earned a varsity baseball spot during my sophomore season. I've really had to prove myself and earn the trust and respect of my new teammates and coaches.

What type of college are you looking for?

I would love to earn DII looks and study Business in college.

Limited film, but I do like what I see out of Owen this season. It’s very clear he does his job, is consistent, and has some natural skill at the position. First thing I noted was his ability to sell a block before busting down the sideline for a huge play up top. Big Rapids also likes to get him in space with some screens, and he can deal quite a bit of damage. Big Rapids is one of the best teams in their division, and if Owen can unlock a big performance, this team will be district champions, and a whole lot more!

I can’t find Owen’s 2024 tape anywhere, but he’s still left an impression from the West Michigan Drive tryout nearly two months ago. Here’s a quick recap of my impressions, and where I think he could be recruited.

  • Explosive release
  • Improved route-running throughout tryout
  • Consistently took top off of defense
  • Solid defender; need to see more
  • Gotta see the 2024 tape!!!
  • Likely D3 prospect

Quick shoutout to Owen who (likely) punched his ticket to the WM drive team from his 7v7 performance.

Early in the tryout, I liked what I saw from Owen. Average size, good athleticism, and solid route running.

Late in the tryout, Owen consistently took the top off of the defense and made several plays downfield. He’s also a solid defender. I didn’t watch Owen as much as I would’ve liked, but he’s 100% earned a ranking and further evaluations.
