New Union transfer Nizayah Abraham looks poised to make an immediate impact after moving over from Tulsa Hale. Abraham was a true do-it-all athlete for Hale last season, contributing as a wide receiver, safety, and return specialist while totaling more than 1,000 all-purpose yards. As a receiver, Abraham shows the ability to run good routes and understands how to create separation and find open windows for his quarterback. His versatility is one of his biggest strengths, and it will be interesting to see how Union utilizes him and where he ultimately finds his role in 6A-I football. I had the opportunity to watch Abraham live and in person last season, and he has continued to put in the work this offseason by making his way around the college camp circuit. I also had the chance to feature him in one of our Friday Film Reviews, and his athleticism and versatility continue to stand out. With his ability to impact the game in all three phases, Abraham is a player I’m excited to see in a Union uniform this season and see what he can do at that level.

Nizyah put together a good junior season, finishing with 30 receptions for 579 yards and 5 touchdowns, along with an interception on the defensive side of the ball. He shows good body control and eye-hand coordination, allowing him to come down with tough catches. With the ball in his hands, he displays good field vision and the ability to make plays in space, consistently finding ways to get open and produce for the Rangers. He finds the open windows for his quarterback to get him the ball. Defensively, he lines up at safety and isn’t afraid to step up and make a play on the ball carrier. He takes proper angles, strikes with purpose, and does a good job securing tackles, showing he can be effective on both sides of the ball. Not to mention, he is a returner on special teams and finished the year with 1,000 all-purpose yards.

He moved over from Union and could end up being Nathan Hale’s most reliable threat on the offensive side of the ball. We’ve watched Abraham in person quite a bit in the last two offseasons and the one thing that always stands out is how consistent he is as a pass catcher. Abraham is pretty shifty in space as well so he’s going to give the Rangers a threat after the catch. Abraham is definitely a player we’re watching that could have a breakout season this fall.
