At 6’4” 255 lbs. he’s got great size, length, and frame for the DL with the athleticism and movement skills to play either interior or DE depending on how he develops. Fast off the ball he’s got good initial quickness out of his stance to gain early penetration. Extremely disruptive, he’s got a great nose for the football to make plays at or behind the LOS. Active hand usage with proper placement to maintain separation and then disengage from contact. Aggressive tackler that is tough to break once he gets his hands on the ball carrier. Harper has shown great year over year improvement throughout his career. He’s always had good length but has continued to fill out his frame and add significant weight this offseason now at 6’4” 255 lbs. Improvements in his strength, athleticism, and initial quickness have also played a part in his recent bump in recruitment. Picked up his first two offers last week after the Red Mountain Showcase first from D2 Black Hills State then followed up by FBS program San Diego State. Good hand usage and placement, he’s able to lockout opponents to maintain separation and keep blockers outside his body. He keeps his eyes up to diagnose the play and locate the ball then disengages aggressively to free himself up. As a tackler, he wraps up to the ground and is tough to break once he gets his hands on you. Recruiting is just getting started and expect him to build off his strong spring.
