Highland Springs Nelson Layne Nelson Layne 6'3" | 190 lbs | QB Highland Springs | 2025 State VA committed to Army yesterday shortly after I had posted my recruiting updates. This could have a ripple affect with my next quarterback but for now let’s talk about Layne and the fit with Army.

Layne is a one the fastest/quickest quarterbacks in the nation with a 4.39 40, this has the chance for a perfect match with Coach Monken’s offense. In case you haven’t been aware in the 11 seasons since Coach Monken took over Head Coaching duties, the Cadets have been a much different team. With Layne’s skill set and Army’s run first veer option, I could see the all-state candidate playing as a freshman.

Literally just picking up an offer last week from UNC Charlotte the new Highland Springs quarterback Nelson Layne Nelson Layne 6'3" | 190 lbs | QB Highland Springs | 2025 State VA has a ton of potential. He has a great touch on his deep ball and his accuracy throwing on the run is nothing to be ignored either. Layne is the real deal and will get more FBS level offers soon, I am curious to see if he can pick up where now Maryland student Khristian Martin Khristian Martin 6'2" | 185 lbs | QB Highland Springs | 2024 State VA left the Rollers in the state title game? Those are might big shoes to fill but based on the talent and drive this young man has, you can best be sure he is not going to back down from any challenge.
