I’ve mentioned Nathen a couple of times recently, but I have yet to dive into his tape.
Nathen’s tape actually opens with a receiving highlight. This highlight shows Nathen simply running right behind the Allendale defense and scoring a pretty easy 85-yard touchdown. Not too much to say here except I wish Nathen didn’t slow down once he was in the clear. He was going to score no matter what, but it would have been a much better display of his speed if he ran it out.
Next play I’ll touch on is at 0:35- Nathen (playing RB) rips a big 45-yard touchdown against a great DeWitt defense. The play was very well-blocked, and Nathen did a great job recognizing the OLB playing the motion man and the other LBs also seeming flat-footed. Lastly, I’ll mention the play at 3:47. This was the game against Marquette where I first saw Nathen dominate, earning multiple run stops from the backside.
I’ll say it again- Nathen should be a high D3 prospect. Very good production at several positions, good testing numbers, etc.
Easy High D3 prospect. Watched him be a nightmare against Marquette- several run stops from the backside. Athletic as well. Testing numbers tell that story. Explosive, gets off the ball fast, and plays hard. Biggest two knocks are size and general inexperience playing outside linebacker. A few great games against great opponents. Very easy D3 evaluation- would not be surprised if he ends up going D2 with good camps.
Nathen is a super, super interesting prospect. If he’s actually 6’0″, I could see D2’s sending out offers (seems like 6’0″ is a hard cutoff for most D2’s). I’m also looking forward to seeing Nathen at more camps this offseason. Gut feeling D3, but dang, those testing numbers are good.

. I got an excellent look at him a few weeks ago against Marquette. Here’s what I currently think of Nathen.
Incredibly high-effort and physical football player
Able to shed blocks on way to run stop
Explodes toward ballcarrier; again, EFFORT
Main reason behind D3 eval- size
If Nathen was a little taller, he’d have a much better shot at being recruited
Can be an amazing D3 prospect with decent testing numbers and a productive offseason
