Helms plays quite the versatile role for North Stanly, picking off seven passes in back-to-back seasons, while finishing second on the team in receptions in 2024 and doubling his tackle numbers in 2025. While he contributes everywhere on the field, his biggest impact is in coverage, where his ball skills are plainly evident. There’s a reason he’s among the state’s interception leaders almost every season.

Helms can do a lot of things for North Stanly and has shown some impressive versatility in his first two seasons. As a freshman, he was one of the team’s leading tacklers, but as a sophomore, Helms played a more coverage-heavy role at corner, which paid off in the form of seven interceptions. He also saw an increased workload as a receiver, and he’s a guy who should only continue to get better.

Helms’ role shifted from his freshman to his sophomore year, but he was no less important for his North Stanly squad. A year after being among the team leaders in tackles, Helms was put in a more coverage-heavy role and played it to perfection, picking off seven passes while taking on an increased workload as a receiver. He has excellent length and we’re interested to see what he can do as a junior.
