Mooney is a pure football player that made an impact on both sides of the line for San Marino. Plays bigger that his 6’3” 230 lb. frame and has room to add mass once he lands at Brown. He’s an outstanding defensive playmaker that racked up 85 tackles, 21 TFL, nine sacks, and 26 hurries. Explosive off the ball with a quick first step he’s able to gain quick penetration to collapse the pocket or stuff the run before the play develops. Extremely violent at the POA, he explodes through contact with good power and leverage on both sides of the ball. Good positional flexibility to play either DE or LB, it will be interesting to see how he develops and is used at the college level. In addition to Brown, he collected offers from Grinnell and San Diego.
