found another key role for Stewartville as a primary option in their passing game this season. Heydt caught 34 passes for 410 yards and 6 TDs in 2025. Heydt’s size suits him better as a wing TE while also having the size to line up as a slot WR. A sneaky receiver who works very well as a checkdown threat while also sneaking up the seams and getting behind the secondary, boasting enough speed to beat LBs in coverage and showing good hands catching through contact. Heydt concludes his high school run as he played a critical role in helping Stewartville win back-to-back state championships between 2023-24.
Heydt had a stellar Week 3, recording two total touchdowns, one on offense hailing from a 20-yard reception off of a screen, and the other on defense coming from a 20-yard interception. Heydt also saw some success carrying the rock where he can utilize his impressive speed in the open space once he breaks through to the second level. Schools need to start getting at this underrated junior prospect.

saw limited playing time, but has been touted as a future leader of the defense. Heydt recorded 18 tackles, a forced fumble, and a pick-six for the team last season. Heydt runs an impressive 4.54 40 yard dash, and it showed as he had a quick burst around the edge playing at Outside Linebacker last season. Heydt has also been a standout on special teams as an effective gunner and excellent blocker on returns. Heydt should get a lot more playing time on defense next season, and should be on the radar as a quickly-rising prospect in Minnesota.
One of Heydt’s primary strengths is his exceptional ability to read the play, whether it’s the quarterback’s eyes in passing situations or a blocking scheme, allowing him to anticipate plays and break on the ball or ball carrier with impressive timing. His instincts are demonstrated by a strong understanding of the offense he’s facing. His ability to recognize and fill running lanes with proper tackles makes him tough to attack if you run to his side. Heydt’s patience at the second level is impressive as he waits to assess the developing running lane before breaking on the ball carrier. When the play unfolds, he showcases his excellent exposition, quickly getting downhill to make impactful tackles. This combination of anticipation, patience, and quick decision-making distinguishes him as a defender with plenty of potential. Additionally, Heydt’s discipline is evident in his ability to maintain gap integrity, ensuring that he remains a consistent and reliable presence.
