Montgomery stood out to me last year when I scouted the West Branch-Regina game at the Little Rose Bowl. He did it again during Friday’s in-person viewing of the next chapter in this great rivalry. Montgomery looks the part playing both ways for the Bears. The athletic and agile senior operates effectively at left offensive guard with sound technique. Montgomery’s long arms work well with good hand placement and activity. Those traits transfer to the other side of the trench, where Montgomery also could develop into a productive player at the next level. He’s hard to block with his burst off of the snap and quickness once underway. Montgomery’s frame can comfortable add more good weight and skill development remains, giving him a sizable ceiling. Northern Iowa has reportedly offered a scholarship.
