McCartney is a three-year starter for Hillcrest and the anchor of the offensive line. He shows great bend and ability to use his strong strike to create knockback. He runs his feet on his blocks and is able to get to the next level. Quick feet allow him to mirror and move with pass rushers with a solid base to stop the bull rush.

The Hillcrest product is a very solid tackle prospect in this 2025 class, and checks into our rankings as a top ten player at his position across the state. He has the ideal size for the position at 6’4″ and change, and has the frame to be able to pack on more weight and mass as he moves through his last high school season and collegiate career. He is explosive out of his stance, gets a good initial punch on defenders and shows he can scrape to the second level and block in space while able to pull across the LOS with ease. Although a very physical downhill blocker, he is also excellent in pass protection, showing good feet, strong lateral movement abilities to recover and has patient hands while able to win against both speed and power edge rushers. Currently, he holds one offer from College of Idaho, and other D3/NAIA schools should come in and offer in the coming months.

McCartney is deserving to crack into our ranks, and should draw college interest from the D3 level over the next 12 months. He can play both guard or tackle, and is a high motor kid that explodes out of his stance and creates immediate vertical push along the LOS. Anchoring the line for Hillcrest, he will be one of the better blockers across the region this up-coming Fall, and be someone to keep a close eye on as he continues to grow and develop.
