is a 5’8”, 160-pound defensive back whose influence on the field extends well beyond his primary position. He epitomizes a three-phase impact player, excelling on offense, defense, and special teams. This versatility sets him apart and positions him for a standout senior season.
On offense, Mekhi shines as a running back. His explosive foot speed and acceleration make him a constant threat to score from anywhere on the field. His ability to generate big plays adds a dynamic element to any offense, keeping defenses on their heels.
However, it’s on defense where Mekhi truly stands out. As a strong safety, he wreaked havoc last season by making tackles for loss excelling in open-field tackles, and showcasing his ball skills with four interceptions. His standout trait on defense is his quick read-and-react ability, allowing him to get downhill swiftly and make impactful plays. Mekhi plays with aggression and intensity that sets the tone for his team, delivering hard hits and stopping opponents in their tracks.
In my opinion, Mekhi should focus on establishing himself as an impact slot corner. The position’s importance at both the collegiate and NFL levels is growing, and Mekhi’s skill set makes him an ideal fit. His versatility and ability to cover, tackle, and create turnovers would make him invaluable in this role.
Special teams is another area where Mekhi excels. His performance on kickoff, punt return, and punt formations is stellar. He consistently makes tackles, causes turnovers, and disrupts plays with his tenacity and awareness. His knack for making significant plays on special teams further highlights his all-around football acumen.
Mekhi will transition from Lincoln High School to Snyder High School this upcoming season. This move could be the catalyst he needs to elevate his profile and catch the attention of college coaches. With his multi-faceted impact on the game,

The final candidate for Pass Defender of the Year goes to Mekhi Casseus. A player that I actually was around as a sophomore, Casseus jumps off the film as a scrappy, aggressive safety. You can see that Casseus wants to make every play on the field and that he flies around at full speed all the time. Because of this, Casseus makes tons of great things happen for his defense. Typically one of the faster players on the field, in one clip we see him absolutely hawk down a defender that was totally wide open, living to play another down and preventing a score. He harnesses his speed into power, as he does everything from jack blockers up off their feet on kickoff to bowling himself into ball carriers in the alley. That said, he has a strong sense of where he needs to be and quickly fills the alley in run support. Aggressive in that sense, Casseus looks to instinctually want to play the run first. He does possess recovery speed to get back to his correct drop. Despite his height, Casseus does look like he does have some vertical leap ability to play the ball, particularly when he undercuts defenders and keeps the play in front of him. For Casseus I want to see him to develop his discipline and IQ as a player when it comes to trusting his drops, opening the correct way, and understanding his zone responsibility
