Despite his smaller size, Maxwell Simpson Maxwell Simpson 5'9" | 165 lbs | DB/WR Holy Family | 2027 State MN has had an overwhelming presence in the secondary for the Holy Catholic Fire, and he was on fire during Sunday’s camp. Simpson posted an unofficial 4.51 40 yard time, a shockingly strong performance that was by far the fastest time during the session. Simpson also excelled during the 1-on-1s, giving little leeway for the WRs, staying tight hip-to-hip, using his hands well, quickly breaking to the ball, and showcasing great reach to break up passes despite his size. Simpson played well beyond what his ranking suggest, and he should become a hot commodity this offseason among D3 teams with the potential to break through up to the D2 level.

Another two-way prospect that caught my attention from Holy Family on Friday night was Maxwell Simpson Maxwell Simpson 5'9" | 165 lbs | DB/WR Holy Family | 2027 State MN in their 2027 class. Man, was this kid a problem in pass coverage from the bulk of the reps I got to watch as he was consistently pestering the wide receivers he went up against. Maxwell is one that played with an overwhelming presence in 1v1 coverage and I also saw flashes of what his ball-tracking ability looked like on a handful of reps. He’s not the biggest two-way prospect you will ever see, but I loved the chip on the shoulder instincts Maxwell played with on both sides of the ball on Friday night in Victoria.
