Oliver West | Prep Redzone Scout
A new name out of Wisconsin and the Badger State’s 2028 OL class, Lodi’s Maxwell Oberling sure made an entrance to the recruiting scene at the UND Flagship Camp #1. Great size and a good athleticism backing his game, Oberling could stuff rushers at the top of the arc thanks to his foot speed, balance, and base, and he could shut down a rusher’s first move as well as counter thanks to his hand usage and physicality. Speaking of physicality, Oberling thrived the most physical the rep got, and his good balance and lateral agility post-contact really got PRZ excited and impressed given the size, age, and tradition of OL prospects produced by the Great State of Wisconsin. Also could defend twitch and was overall patient in his pass set. Oberling earned his first D1 offer thanks to his performance, as the hosting UND Fighting Hawks just had to throw their name in the mix for this up-and-coming Hog Molly.

. Max has a rare frame that already checks in at 6’6″ 280 lbs. With that frame comes natural power. Power in his hands that give him an initial punch of a heavyweight boxer and the leg drive to be able to erase DL from gaps. The big man also flashed some ability to get up to level two and land blocks on more agile defenders. The overwhelming power also shines in his DT reps where he instantly collapses the interior of the line. This is another prospect who could be playing at a very high level down the road.
