Expert Analysis
Paul Gregorian | Prep Redzone Scout
McKenna has been one of the more violent and technically sound prospects at the position across Idaho for a few years now, and is going to be a key commitment to watch as we close in on the first national signing day. He offers great position versatility either on the edge or inside in college, and is a high motor kid that is strong at the POA and excels both in the run game and when rushing the passer. He has seen his recruitment pickup a bit in recent weeks and hauled in offers from Montana Tech and Carroll College.

McKenna is one of the top available pass rushers across the state and checks into our ranking is one of the top at his position and is going to be a very nice late steal for a college program. He plays with heavy hands, natural bend and can win with both speed and power at the point of attack and slot in anywhere along the defensive front. McKenna had a terrific showing in week five and posted 3 sacks and 12 tackles against a solid Boise team on Friday night.

Recent Offers: College of Idaho
McKenna is one of the best returning defenders as we head into the Fall, and anchors the lines for Borah on both sides of the ball. Defensively, he is a snappy rusher that can win with both speed and power while a natural bender from the inside and does a nice job using his leverage to create knock-back and create a pass rush from multiple positions.

Notes: McKenna is a elite edge player that can win with both power and speed at the POA and is a high motor kid that is technically sound in all phases. He should draw plenty of FCS interest and potential offers over the next 9 months and picked up his first offer from Carroll College recently.

Mckenna is one of the top defenders across the state regardless of class and is a high caliber next level player. He’s very athletic for his size has great strength at the point of attack, a strong inside punch/lock out and plays with a high motor at all times. He has had a very productive off-season dominating multiple 5on5 tournaments and continues to pack on weight without losing twitch and quickness. Heading into his senior season he should be one of the sack leaders across Idaho it should be closing in on the first offer sooner rather than later.

McKenna checks into our updated 2026 rankings as the number eleven prospect in Idaho and number two defensive line prospect in the class. He is a very balanced defender with a good initial punch to create a vertical reset at the line and provides a quick and active use of hands at a point of attack when applying pressure from the inside. He is a high motor kid that shows quick block recognition and backside pursuit to the ball and is a definite FCS+ prospect that should be closing in on his first college offer. Currently, he does not hold any college offers.

McKenna checks into our rankings as the number two defensive lineman in his class across Idaho, and is a truly elite balanced defensive end that excels both at collapsing the picket off the edge, and playing the run while very strong at the POA. So far in his Junior season, he has packed on 20 pounds since last Fall, and shows strong hands at the POA, good leverage in the run game and creates immediate knock-back near the LOS while able to quickly recognize blocks. He should only continue to grow and develop as he moves through this season, and is a no brainer next level kid at either defensive end or could kick inside depending on his growth progression/scheme fit in college.

McKenna continues to impress where he is improved in all aspects of his game. His natural strength shows up immediately and his hand placement is excellent. Quick first step with a powerful bull rush allows him to get under offensive lineman quickly and make plays in the backfield. His ever improving pass rush tool bag is showing up in a big way this offseason.

McKenna is another no brainer fast rising college prospect, and recently has been having strong performances at various 5on5 tournaments at both the defensive end and defensive tackle spot. He is explosive off the ball, shows a violent punch and wins with sudden power and strength at the POA. He is another Borah standout that is the next in line to move to the college level, following in his brothers footsteps who signed with Boise State in the 2024 class.

McKenna is the next up and coming Borah defensive line standout, following in the steps of his older brother Trevor, who signed to Boise State in the ’24 class and was one of the states top players for the past two seasons. The younger McKenna is making quite a name for himself at defensive end, and checks into our rankings as the number four overall prospect in Idaho. He is another high motor kid with an elite first step get off, bend around the edge, violent and quick hands at the POA and can collapse the pocket quickly while also a very sound player against the run. He should impress at multiple stops this off-season, and is poised for a monster Junior campaign.
