Markovich is one of the top athletes in the state and made a statement on both sides of the ball this season. He is a back that shows good vision being able to find the hole, sticking his foot in the ground, getting north and south quickly. He is a physical runner being able to lower his shoulder and running through arm tackles. He has the speed to pull away from defenders in the open field and can be a home run threat. He is uncommitted but has some programs looking and will be a steal for whoever is able to land this versatile beast.

Markovich is a battering ram with the speed of a sprinter. His 1,361 rushing yards on just 157 carries (8.7 yards per carry) and 22 touchdowns highlight his rare combination of power and agility. A track star with an 11.4-second 100-meter and a 24.0-second 200-meter, Markovich is a nightmare in the open field and an anchor for Glenwood Springs’ offense.

Markovich has redefined old-school football with his standout season this year. A two-way powerhouse, Markovich’s offensive dominance turned heads, highlighted by multiple 200+ yard rushing games. His physical running style is a nod to football’s gritty past, yet his speed and agility bring a modern flair. Markovich excels at making the first defender miss while using his vision to exploit cutback lanes. His ability to power through tackles makes him a nightmare for defenders, especially at the second and third levels where he is nearly unstoppable. On offense, his field awareness and relentless effort consistently shift momentum in his team’s favor. As a Division 1 talent still searching for a home, Markovich has the tools and toughness that college programs covet. With his remarkable season as evidence, he’s poised to make an immediate impact wherever he lands.

I would be doing this list a disservice if I left Mason off it. He is currently the leading rusher in Colorado with 2 200+ games. So far, he has 89 carries for 671 yards and 10 touchdowns. He’s averaging 7.5 yards per carry which is phenomenal. As a linebacker, he has 32 total tackles (14 solo, 18 assisted), 4 TFL, 3 PD, 1 FR. This kid is a baller on both sides of the field. He has very good athletic ability due to elite acceleration, very good speed, balance, and change of direction. He’s a downhill runner who punishes the defense with his physicality. Markovich uses his very good vision to identify which holes to run through. Uses dynamic cuts to juke out defenders. Mason will put the shoulder pads down and bulldoze through the defense. He uses his powerful legs to fight through contact and drive forward. He also bounces off the linebackers. Once he’s in the open field, he is gone. Using his home run speed to blaze past defenders into the end zone. As a linebacker, he is a physical force. He uses his gap knowledge to ID which one to rush, leading to a TFL. He uses his lengthy arms to knock the ball out of the air. Markovich is a good run stopper, stopping them in their tracks. He also has the athleticism to keep up with WRs and TEs in man or zone coverage. I loved watching his tape, and I believe Mason will continue dominating the rest of the season.

Markovich was a game breaker against Summit this past weekend. The senior showed his skills on both sides of the ball. On the offense, he had 18 carries for 248 yards and 4 touchdowns. On defense he had 3 total tackles with them all being a TFL. Markovich has very good athletic ability due to elite acceleration, very good speed, change of direction, and balance. As a linebacker, he is a hard hitter who watches the QB’s eyes then lays the boom on an unsuspecting ball carrier. One play that stood out to me was he rushed/IDed a gap and tackled the RB during the handoff. Impressive. He brings those same skills to the offense. Markovich hits the hole with ferocity, using dynamic cuts or dynamic spin moves to create separation between him and the defensive line. He’s a bruiser, running over defenders and taking multiple down with him. Markovich fights through contact, and uses a powerful stiff arm to throw defenders to the ground. He’s got home run speed to run past the 2nd level of defense. I can’t wait to see more of Markovich throughout this season, as he dominates the run game.

Markovich through 3 weeks has been able to be the go to whenever his team gets it into the redzone. He is a powerful runner that is hard to bring down, being able to throw players off and punch the ball in. He can be a workhorse being able to take on a lot of carries and be efficient when his number is called. He had one run where he stiffed armed a kid to the ground and walked into the endzone. Will be a player that will be on a lot of radars moving forward.

Markovich is one of the more sneaky athletic backers that you will run into. He is quick to read and react to his keys but gets on the line faster than they expect at times, being able to get past the protection and make a play in the backfield. He has soft hands and can come away with the football at times when he drops back into coverage. At times, he uses his vision and explosiveness to go underneath blocks and get to the ball carrier before they can get to the outside. He shows good instinct with this, knowing his speed and finding the hole to make a break on the ball. He plays with strength and can stop the ball carrier in their tracks.
