Lane has seemingly overnight become one of South Dearborn’s leaders and thrown into the fire on both sides of the ball. He produced defensively as a freshman, but this year they moved him to offense some as well. He carried the ball 32 times for 143 yards and a pair of TDs while having 41 tackles, 6 TFLs, 2 sacks, and a recovered fumble. I like Lane and the versatility he’s giving South Dearborn.

The South Dearborn product had a fantastic freshman year and appears to be another step forward this year. His first week was just about as good as possible while showing a bit more physical development. He’s clearly worked on his frame and it allowed him to win more right away at the line Friday. He was creating pressure, getting off blocks, and making tackles left and right. He ended the night with 4 TFLs and a defensive TD. Where Lane is at right now is very promising, but he needs to continue to produce at a high level.

Lane is going to be a fun recruit to watch develop over the next 3 years. Right now, I’ve got him listed as a LB but he primarily played on the line this year. I have him at LB because I anticipate him being some sort of hybrid type player down the road. He’s too lengthy and explosive to keep just near the line of scrimmage, especially when he has the speed and length to cover. For his age, he’s well built and already ahead of the game in the weight room. Per his Twitter, he’s squatting 415, benching 225, and cleaning 225. 36 tackles, 4 TFLs, and 2 sacks is what he brought to the table as a freshman, but it’s safe to say his role will only grow as he does.
