About Marvin

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

Adaptable to the environment that I am playing in, I work to find solutions during games and I play fast and physical, but smart.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am the underdog that no one sees as a threat or gives a chance because our football program is small, so I always know that I have to outwork everyone else to show that I belong and compete with anyone.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I currently am a member of the We are Kings club at my school, for students of color who are working to continue their education past high school despite their social and/or economic status. I also am a volunteer with the local chapter of the American Red Cross.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I volunteer to help maintain our practice field on a weekly basis since we do not have the funding to pay someone to do all of the maintenance (cutting the grass, trash clean-up, equipment organizing, etc.). I have also learned that I lead best by example. I am not the loudest person on the team, but I am the person that is always out front with whatever the coaches ask us to do or they just need

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

My biggest challenge has been being seen as a real prospect that can play football beyond high school. My school is focused on academics and does not offer any athletics. So I have been looked down on by players from other programs for not playing at a big high school since I have to play for an independent football team.

What type of college are you looking for?

A college within a city that offers art, graphic design or sports management, and is in North Carolina or close to it.
