is listed as an RB for now, but has the potential to be a two-way star. Last season, Marquis carried the ball five times for 30 yards and recorded 18 tackles, a TFL, and a blocked kick in varsity action. Anderson’s freshman tape looks like a mix of JV (freshman?) and varsity reps, giving us a glimpse of the type of player he is, with a shifty running style that can spring free for a big gain if he gets to the edge. Solid strength in his base to help him power through tackle attempts. Good base skillset that will only continue to grow in the upcoming seasons.
Anderson turned out to be a revelation for Waterloo West this season. The freshman contributed in all three phases on the varsity, handing part-time duties at running back and blocking a kick during his exploits on special teams. He did most of his damage on defense, however, where he contributed 18.0 tackles, including seven solo stops and a tackle for loss. Anderson’s freshman highlight video opens him blocking a field-goal try by the opponent, almost taking it all the way back for a touchdown. Other clips show him shining as a running back on the sophomore team. Anderson mixes power and speed with sharp cuts and keen vision. It will be interesting to see what he can do with more varsity touches next year.
