Murphy transferred to Garfield from Chief Sealth for his junior year where he showed great year over year improvement both in coverage and in run support. Good long frame at 6’0” 180 lbs. with plus reactionary quickness and recovery speed to close space quickly. Plays with good leverage and hip level to be fluid when changing directions and transitioning out of his back pedal. Shows good ability in both press and off coverage. Aggressive tackler in run support that can redirect while maintaining his outside in force and be reliable in the open field. Recruiting stock is on the rise as he continues to develop as one of the top corners in the state’s 2024 class.

**Mario now attends Garfield HS**
With Mario transferring to a bigger Metro league school, he’s been getting on a lot more peoples radars. Garfield’s defense has yet to allow more than 20 points in a game, with Lake Stevens being the only time a team scored more than 10 points. Murphy is strong for his size and surprises a lot of people with the amount of power he does have. He’s extremely fast, faster than most of the wide receivers he faces. He’s only going to keep improving while being on the Garfield team.
