Marcus Council is a high-impact player for Akron East. A dynamic two-way prospect, he is a very good off-tackle runner who the team likes to utilize in space. Council has solid change-of-direction and can make defenders miss. Council topped off last season with 951 yards of total offense. His real impact, also, comes on defense, where he registered six interceptions last season bolstered by 36 total tackles. He is a ballhawk when he is allowed to roam in space and make plays on the ball.

As a sophomore Council showed the ability to be a big-time offensive weapon for the Rockets. He has excellent vision and an explosive burst as a one cut running back. After he makes his move, he has the explosive speed to take it to the house on any play. He runs with great tempo and has the ability to make guys miss. Even though he’s not a big back he has the leg drive and contact balance to run through tackles. Because of his size he could move out to receiver at the next level. You see on a couple of plays that he easily has the ability to line up at slot and be explosive route runner as well. They also used him a lot on jet sweeps. Regardless of how it comes Council is a player that defenses should fear when he gets the ball in his hands. Marcus is also a game changer on special teams as a punt and kick returner.

Council is a shifty running back with home run hitting speed. In the open field Council is a slippery runner who has the ability to juke and make guys miss. With his ability to get to the edge he has a good feel for the angles of defenders and knowing when the edge is there. One of the traits that separate the speedy Rocket running back is his open field speed and ability to separate from defenders. When he gets free, he’s a touchdown waiting to happen.
