Malik is a 2027 I have been itching to see this offseason. He checked in at a prototypical 6’4″ 242 lbs on the day of the camp and it is safe to say that the elite frame was not having any issues holding and carrying that weight. Watching the big man battle in pads vs OL was an intriguing site. It is clear that the big man is raw in turns of technique as a pass rusher, but the gifts are hard to ignore. Elite length, solid first step out of his stance, and the upper body strength to have always created at least a glimpse of separation to attack and beat blocks with. Malik also flashed the power to be able to bull rush through OL to get into the backfield at will during some reps. His performance earned him an offer from the hosts, UW- River Falls.
This kid is a personal favorite of mine in this Class. He is very raw, but the tools and potential he has within his game get me very excited. You don’t find many 6’5″ 220 lbs DEs at the HS level, but that is what we have here. Malik is coming off a 40 tackle and 10 TFL season as a junior, setting the stage for a big camp season and 2026 season. Turn on the tape and you see an athlete who is learning to utilize his elite length to his advantage. One who has the range to quickly chase down the ball before it can get back to the line. It is also great to see that the big man has an effective first step that gets him through gaps very quickly despite his size. Malik is just scratching the surface. DL coaches must check this dude out.
Malik has an outstanding chance to see his stock absolutely skyrocket this summer. For starters he possesses a rare build. 6’5″ 220 lbs with an 80.25″ wingspan. The DE is insanely long and at times you see him use that length on tape. If Malik can use it more consistently, and show that this summer, then he is going to jump up everyone’s boards. Looking back at 2025 Malik does look raw, but he repeatedly flashes the ability to power his way the OL to get into the backfield. The highlights also feature examples of a very effective get off at the snap of the ball. Once in the backfield we also see some range to chase down the ball from behind. The raw tools with this kid are plentiful. Almost time for him to start putting it all on display this summer.
