Expert Analysis
Sam Erman | Prep Redzone Scout
rnWalden is a first-year starter who is beginning to find his stride and realize how good he can be. He’s a really good athlete and does a good job using that speed to keep the defense on its toes. He’s willing to push the ball downfield as well, so it’s not like they can just come up and take away his legs because he throws it over the top. His accuracy could use work, but you can see the arm talent. He’s getting his footwork and mechanics underneath him still, but once he does he’s a guy who could be nearly unstoppable. They already sit at 7-1, and Walden has his share in that, to say the least. He’s only completing 57% of his throws, but it’s year 1, he’s made some incredible throws in that process, and he’s moving the ball with his legs. 971 passing yards and 12 TDs with his 958 yards and 10 TDs on the ground has Walden in the driver’s seat for one of the breakout candidates of the year. He’s got a fantastic build and despite all the running, has shown he’ll stand in the pocket and deliver a strike while he gets hit. Walden should pick up as much traction as anyone in the coming weeks because he’s fun to watch and has a ceiling most other guys dream of.
