finished last season with just ten catches for 160 yards and a touchdown, but the junior wideout is hoping to make a bigger impact on the gridiron for the J-Hawks in 2025.
Miles pointed to Ranard as a player that “needs more touches” and has continued to work hard over the last year. He added that Ranard is still a work in progress, but the wideout could greatly benefit from playing alongside Nyenow at wide receiver, who will undoubtedly get a good portion of attention from the defense.

is a player who saw limited touches as a sophomore but left a huge impression at the PRZ showcase last winter. Lucas earned a starting varsity role last fall and posted a strong 12 receptions, 170 yards, and a receiving touchdown. Ranard is an under-the-radar receiver who possesses sneaky speed and agility that make him hard to contain. He does a good job firing out of his stance to quickly gain ground through the stem of the route before making a sharp, clean break at the top of the route. Lucas uses his spacing very well to create separation and take advantage of soft spots in coverage. Reliable eyes and hands when making a catch. Lucas definitely has the tools to continue developing into a solid receiver prospect with two more seasons to grow!

Cedar Rapids Jefferson is producing intriguing prospects under coach Ed Miles. Ranard is one of the newest additions. He works hard and loves competition, which will aid his development. Ranard’s frame has plenty of room to fill out without him losing his speed and athleticism. He looks comfortable running routes and owns reliable hands. Ranard uses his gifts well as a defensive back, too. He takes advantage of long strides and quick reactions. A contributor as a J-Hawk returner last season, Ranard is a great breakout candidate for this coming season.
