Byrd | 2025 State WV acquitted himself nicely on the day with good testing numbers and standing out during the 1vs1s. Was not surprised he showed out as Jones is an all state running back for many reasons. He has several division 3 schools interested and Division 2 institutions are starting to court him as well. Jones had a great day and will surely be a hot commodity for many colleges. Whether or not the schools can keep him in state will be another question.

Playing corner, running back and receiver for Robert C. Byrd High School, this showcase can really do wonders for his recruitment. I can see by my co-workers previous articles that Jones has already stood out at other showcases, one final push should solidify his commitment. Watching his tape he looks like a defensive back at the next level, but that is not up for me to decide. He will certainly have drills for all three positions he excelled available on Sunday.

Jones was a Top Performer at the PRZ WV Combine back in the spring and is a senior flying under the radar right now. Jones is an explosive athlete who could likely play DB in college as well but performed well in 1-on-1s as a pass catcher at the Winter Exposure Showcase. He faced linebackers playing tighter to the quarterback during 1-on-1s simulating coming out of the backfield and was too quick and fast for that position group. Jones had some real juice and could hit top speed quickly which allowed him to be one of the top performers of the RB/LB group at the camp.

Jones has D2 ability and athleticism that will excel after spending some time in a college strength program for a couple of years. He’s extremely quick with a great burst and has very good speed. Jones can line up in the slot with receiver potential at the next level as well and is just an athlete that you need to get the ball to in any way that you can. He’s a very good outside-the-tackles runner with the speed to bend the corner consistently and get loose in the open field. Jones is still flying under the radar as a prospect but needs more college looks this season.
