Larry Moon is one of the best prospects I have ever seen. The kid has great athletic ability. His ability to get in and out of his breaks is impressive. His speed and ball skills are also excellent. He looks like a dominant player who can do it all. He has been visiting some of the best college programs in the nation and that should continue.

Stop me if you’ve heard this one, Larry Moon continues to add to the lengthy list of offers under his belt. It’s hardly news nowadays, I fully expect Moon III to gather as many next-level offers as more and more teams come through Aliquippa to evaluate talent.
So far, as the 2024 Fall season continues to progress at lightning speed, Moon has received offers out of UCLA and Virginia Tech. Expect teams that offered Moon as an 8th grader to re-offer as these programs see more tape.

Moon continues to be a highly impressive prospect and one of the best that we’ve seen during our time here at PrepRedzone Pennsylvania. Moon even as a 2027 prospect stood out above the rest which is no disrespect to the rest of the Aliquippa roster but he’s just that good. Major Power Four college coaches were paying attention to Moon throughout the showcase. On top of that, this past weekend he competed against some of the top regional prospects at the All-22 camp in State College and came away with the Defensive Back MVP honors.

Larry Moon is one of the best defensive backs I have seen play as a high school player. He has all the skills to play at the next level. Below is my breakdown from one of his plays:

plays press coverage skills are evident. He does a good job playing wide receivers hip-to-hip and never lets them out of his coverage radius. On the one play, I am going to break down though I am choosing a trail coverage skill. This is similar to pressman, but you trail the receiver and follow them instead of using pressman against them. On this play, the wide receiver is running a post pattern. Moon gets into his drop and then stays on top of the wide receiver. When the wide receiver gets to the top of the route, he gets his hands on his hips to feel him, so he knows where he is breaking free at the stem of the route. When the receiver finally breaks his route off Moon is still in great coverage and the safety is providing help over top. The quarterback throws the ball, and it is thrown over the heads of Moon and the Safety because there is no window to throw the ball. Larry Moon showed elite coverage skills in this play.

! The P5 schools are starting to learn about this prospect. Earlier this month he took a visit to USC where he picked up an offer from them! After visiting USC he took a trip to Westwood to visit UCLA.
Then he took a trip back to the East Coast to visit Ohio State. After spending the day in Columbus he attended a Pitt spring practice. Keeping it in his home state his next trip was at Penn State. He then visited and was offered by Miami Of Ohio.
His most recent visit was down in Tallahassee, Florida to see FSU during Spring Ball.

Larry is the #1 ranked player in Pennsylvania on Prep Redzone in the 2027 class. It definitely isn’t hard to see why Power 5 schools are already after Moon. He’s just as quick as he is fast and has upperclassmen DB footwork. His work ethic is probably what impresses me most about him as he logged several days honing his craft this past summer. Moon has P5 offers from Penn State, Pitt, and Maryland.
