Already holding offers from Nothern Iowa, South Dakota and Lindenwood prior to this week, Pella linebacker

picked up an offer from Iowa and linebackers coach, Seth Wallace.
At 6-foot-3 and 220 pounds, Van Maanen is a physical specimen in the middle of the Dutch defense. Putting up just shy of 100 tackles the last two seasons, Van Maanen is an instinctual backer with excellent physical traits that should easily translate to the next level. With long arms and a strong base, Van Maanen just doesn’t miss tackles. His pursuit of the ball is excellent and his reaction time is second-to-none in that he’s able to see the ball, diagnose what the offense is trying to do, and wrap up the ball-carrier in a matter of seconds. His strength and explosion allows him to take on, and blow by — and through — offensive linemen for tackles-for-loss (he racked up 23.5 last season), and frankly, it’s pretty easy to tell that he loves to hit.
In addition to the Iowa offer, Van Maanen has also received interest from Wisconsin on the recruiting trail.

Yet another monstrous physical specimen for the Dutch,

stands as an intimidating presence in the middle of the Pella defense ready to swarm and tackle any ball-carrier that squeezes though to the second level.
Just a junior and already up above six feet and 200 pounds, VanMaanen is a mauler of a tackler that, once he gets ahold of you, he’s not letting go. With a long frame and a strong base, most runners don’t have the chance to run out of his reach. Like Diers, VanMaanen is almost surely D1 bound, it only depends on where and when his recruitment begins to pick up.

The second Dutchman of the group, Kyler Van Maanen will also be part of the Pella defense that will look to take a step up after finishing as the runners up in Class 4A last season. With Van Maanen back after posting 87 tackles, the Dutch defense should be in good shape this fall.
As the an outside linebacker, Van Maanen is required to do more pass coverage than Warner, and when he drops into his zone, he possesses a bit more speed and length which he uses to fly around and make plays. He didn’t rack up quite the stats that his older teammate did last season, but as his cohort in the middle, Van Maanen and Warner will be two of the most feared linebackers in 4A in 2025.

, who played a big part in the Dutch’s spectacular 2024 season. As a sophomore, VanMaanen recorded 87 tackles, four TFLs, and a sack, showing his ability to find his way to the ball consistently. Watching Kyler’s tape, I saw a linebacker who flows to the ball very well, playing with quick eyes that examine and read the offense in a flash. He can make snap decisions when having to crash downhill or flip his hips to drop into coverage. Good closing speed and effective tackling angles. At 6’2″ and 200 pounds, Kyler also possesses the type of frame that projects well to the next level. Solid prospect with tons of upside!
