Good day for New Prague’s Kormick Smith Kormick Smith 6'3" | 245 lbs | TE/EDGE New Prague | 2027 State MN at the PJ Fleck RTB Prospect Camp on Sunday night. PRZMN is familiar with Smith’s athleticism and explosiveness thanks to a strong, breakout showing at our winter camp in December, and he did a great job of showcasing that, dare I say “elite”, athleticism at his size. He did such a good job, in fact, that I saw WR coach Isaac Fruechte literally raise an eyebrow at his 40 time. Smith also worked as a DE during 1v1s, so we’ll be seeing a position switch coming soon on the Big Board. Padded up, Smith was a dangerous threat and presence off the edge as a 5T, with an explosive get-off, bend at the top of the arc, and a ton of twitch that beat a couple of the best OT prospects in attendance. Bit raw and unfamiliar from a technical standpoint, but the obvious traits and tools of a potential elite pass rusher flashed, and flashed well. He could earn some serious Missouri Valley attention and consideration these next couple weeks and would be a good fit for the conference’s competition.

Smith finished with 27 tackles, 7 TFLs, 7 sacks, and a forced fumble in 2025. Smith’s impressive athleticism and speed suits well as an Edge rusher, using his length and quickness off the ball to get leverage around his blockers, chasing down the QB to put a stop to the play quickly, while showing solid sideline-to-sideline range, containing the outside run, and chasing down ball-carriers going toward the opposite side of the field. Smith is a premier two-way threat who should continue to generate huge results as one of the brightest stars for the Trojans.

Not exactly a TE, but Kormick Smith Kormick Smith 6'3" | 245 lbs | TE/EDGE New Prague | 2027 State MN has been quite the multi-purpose tool for the Trojans, excelling at RB, Edge rusher, and Punter. Offensively, Smith ran for 275 yards (6.7 YPC) and 2 rushing TDs while adding 5 receptions for 120 yards and a TD. His size and athleticism suits him well either at Edge or at the Tight End position, and he boasts impressive testing numbers, including a 4.6 40 yard time, a 30.9″ vertical jump, and a 465 lb max squat. A bruising runner who’s difficult to tackle, but also boasts impressive speed to outrun opposing LBs in the passing game, Smith’s versatility as a runner, blocker, and receiver makes him one of the most intriguing athletes in MN for the class of 2027, and one that could easily suit as a versatile all-purpose threat at the next level.

A 6’3, 235+ lb. EDGE/HB/TE/P, Smith is incredibly dynamic skillset for his size and age and the top-end speed and acceleration is especially exciting from a RB perspective, as it creates a very big problem for would-be defenders as they attempt to square up and take down the XL ball carrier. There’s a lot to be excited about in a lot of the facets of Smith’s game, very much including RB, where he shows off great vision, lateral twitch to go along with his power game, and frightening acceleration from his fullback spot at 6’3, 230, which also helps him get wide open as a route runner out of the backfield. Really tough mismatch assignment for LBs in coverage duty, and Smith triples as a crushing fullback who will knock you straight on your butt.

Additionally, as a standup 4-3 EDGE outside of the tackle, Smith is a big-time thumper and contact creator who can knock the ball loose from the sheer size and power embedded in his 6’3 230+ pound frame. He owns impressive power in his hands, and when he shocks, sheds, and locks out his arms you can see offensive tackles take noticeable steps backwards as they look to regain their balance and foothold. Plus, Smith can unlock his hips and bend the corner, demonstrates noticeable closing speed from his EDGE spot, and shows some impressive overall juice as a pass rusher. One rep of Smith’s especially stood out when the 235 lber. was manning the Spartans punter spot, as he converted a 4th down after a muffed snap that went over his head, tearing down his home sideline and into a massive collision right at the first down marker for a huge momentum shifter for his New Prague team. Big body, dynamic, and just a good overall football player and playmaker. I could see D1 ball in his future, no doubt.
