is one of the most impressive two-way prospects of the 2025 recruiting class in Iowa, and while he’s been renowned as an upper-tier TE prospect, Koopmans has been hugely effectively as a MLB to start the season. Against Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley, Koopmans led the team with 12.5 tackles to go with 2.5 TFLs and a sack. Koopmans was all over the field, showing a quick burst through the middle, great lateral movement, and excellent reads finding the right lanes to stop the play. Koopmans will be one of the most interesting athletes of the class of 2025, and his usage could go either way in the collegiate level.

Koopmans shows potential on both sides of the ball during his junior highlights. I can envision him helping college programs as a threat carrying the ball or catching it. He appears better suited for defense, however, where his athleticism and play-making ability can play up. Koopmans delivers whether he’s lined up at deep safety, middle linebacker or on the edge. He offers impressive burst and sees the field really well. He’s a fundamentally sound tackler that likes lowering the boom upon arrival. He piled up 29 solo tackles, 6.5 stops for loss, 1.5 sacks and three interceptions as a junior.

Koopmans is a big-bodied tight end with supreme athleticism and mak-you-miss agility. He lines up all over the line of scrimmage, creating mismatches for linebackers and defensive backs. He’s shifty throughout his routes and creates enough separation to make him an easy target for his quarterback. What stands out in Koopmans’ film is his fearlessness going over the middle of the field. He’ll secure the catch even if he’s about to take a hit. He has strong, natural hands that are on full display in the red zone. He’ll high-point the ball with a defender draped on him and reel it in for a big play. Koopmans will take underneath short passes for big gains, using his speed and open-field vision to make the most of the play. He’s a tough runner to bring down, running through arm tackles and making defenders miss in space.
