About Kobe
Expert Analysis
Todd Haldis | Prep Redzone Scout
Just days ago Kobe made his commitment to in-state Towson University. He had double digit total offers from the likes of UMass, Sac State, UNH, and Howard but he chose to stay local with the Tigers. It’s a great get for Towson in my opinion as Kobe is a top 100 overall player in the MD/DC/DE area. He is a player I’ve see live plenty over the years, as well as a few times this spring where he has really impressed and taken his game up a notch. A dynamic slot WR who plays bigger than his size and can make the tough catch. Kobe was a 2nd Team All-WCAC last season and I expect similar results for his senior campaign. A great get for Towson from the powerhouse from GC, don’t be surprised if Kobe is a standout playmaker for the Tigers in the future.

has been one of the breakout names of the offseason, quickly emerging as a wide receiver to watch in the 2025 class. He turned heads as a Top Performer at the Duel in the DMV 7-on-7 Tournament where I had the opportunity to watch his team, Maryland Octane dominate on Day 1. His recruitment began to take off with an offer from Howard University. Since then, his offer list has grown to 10 programs, with New Hampshire being the most recent to join the mix.
A Second Team All-WCAC selection, Ellis combines a sturdy frame with a physical play style. He excels in contested catch situations, attacking the ball at its highest point and showing strong hands through contact. Whether working the boundary or going over the middle, Ellis consistently creates mismatches with his body control and toughness.
With momentum building and college interest rising, Ellis is positioned for a major senior season. Expect his recruiting stock to continue climbing as more programs look to add a physical, reliable target to their 2026 class.

Ellis possesses a rare combination of strong hands and body control, making him a dangerous weapon in contested catch situations. He can haul in one-handed grabs and elevate to snatch the ball out of the air with authority. After the catch, he can run with determination and shows the ability to make defenders miss in the open field. In 2024, Ellis posted 275 receiving yards and three touchdowns, and with his upside, the 2025 season could be his breakout year. He’s already drawing interest from Division I programs, picking up offers from Delaware State and Howard University.

is a polished and reliable slot receiver with good route-running and playmaking ability in the short-to-intermediate passing game. He has quick feet, makes sharp cuts, and understands how to manipulate defenders to get open. Ellis’s ability to read coverage, find soft spots in zones, and adjust routes on the fly makes him a quarterback-friendly target. One of his standout traits is his change of direction and short-area quickness. That allows Ellis to create separation at the top of his routes. He also shows impressive concentration and timing on downfield balls, like his leaping grab on a go route. Though Ellis is not a burner in terms of straight-line speed, he is fluid and efficient with his movement. He’s also willing to go across the middle and make contact. Ellis’s ability to make defenders miss and gain yards after the catch still makes him a threat in space.

5’10, 180 pounds out of Good Counsel HS. Ranked as a top 150 2026 recruit in the state of Maryland. Currently unoffered but has the skills and talent to make that change.
MD Octane Black was absolutely loaded with talent. Pretty much every spot on the field was occupied by some semblance of a 3-star athlete.

fit that mold. A modest Day One but a fantastic Day Two in my opinion. Ellis didn’t come away with ridiculous grabs, 50/50 balls, or several touchdowns, yet he was there when

needed him most. #13 was consistently getting open under 15 yards. I agree with Todd Haldis’s latest piece, which also details what he saw out of the Good Counsel junior.
Kobe wasn’t always a focal point for Octane-Black’s offense but he stepped up when they needed him. I swear every time they needed a key first down or a play to get them going, it was Kobe getting open and making the play. Showing strong hands the ability to find space & separation, he was always open and the safety valve for QB Jayden Ford
Jayden Ford 6'0" | 180 lbs | QB Bishop McNamara | 2027 State MD . A playmaker after the catch, Kobe can make the first guy miss and get good YAC. In a loaded offense Kobe was a key piece and showed the clutch trait having probably his best game of the weekend in their biggest Tournament playoff game.
