Coleman consistently shows smooth movement skills and technical patience in his film. His loose hips and quick feet allow him to mirror routes effectively downfield, and he rarely opens the gate too early against vertical threats. His ability to stay composed through reps keeps him in control and able to make a play.
At the catch point, Coleman constantly disrupts timing with good reaction speed and physical competitiveness. He consistently challenges receivers late in routes and make completions difficult even when initially trailing slightly.
The refinement to his game is what separates Coleman from his peers. With a high understanding of leverage, timing, and how to stay attached throughout the route stem- Coleman is a next level defender.

Coleman is a productive, but underrated DB from the Birmingham area who is set to debut in our next rankings update. Coleman is a versatile DB with good size and instincts. He is a well-rounded player who is just solid at everything. He has the foot speed and hips to turn and run with receivers, physically attach to routes, carry routes downhill, pass off receivers in zone coverage, and come downhill to attack the ball. Just an active player with good size and instincts. Underrated with little recruiting attention, but I could see some D1 attention here as we head down the stretch.

Khai Coleman Khai Coleman 6'0" | 185 lbs | DB/LB Helena High School | 2027 AL is a talented DB/LB from Helena coming off a big junior season last fall.
“Coleman is a talented coverage corner who creates issues for offenses every single snap. He’s quick on his feet, highly instinctual, and can fly around the field to break up passes and force INTs. I’m really impressed with how Coleman can stick with WRs on deeper developing plays- he’s a high-IQ defender who plays with a ton of effort every snap.
On top of that, Coleman has shown he’s a productive tackler. He’s quick to diagnose plays, is great in pursuit, and can work from the opposite side of the field to bring down the ballcarrier.”
Make sure you check out some of Coleman’s film below! He’s a talented player with a big senior season ahead.
