If Smith produces like he did last year, I fully expect him to be named this Fall with a strong chance at bringing home top honors. The Mustangs senior two-way talent will play a large role for his team this year as the top offensive option while also delivering on defense. Huntingdon won the 2A title last year but will have a different squad in the Fall as new starters step forward. Smith will be leaned upon heavily throughout the year, so getting into the Mr. Football mix is a high probability.

Going home as the game MVP after his Mustangs title win over Marion Co., Smith continued his strong play through the back half of the season with another stellar performance that helped bring home the school’s second ever state championship. The Mustangs used their philosophy of running the ball to perfection with Smith being a main catalyst as he ran 21 times for 111 yards and one touchdown while also throwing for a score as well. We get the luxury of Smith returning next Fall for his senior year and with him back, Huntingdon might have a shot at repeating as 2A champs.

Smith was the do-it-all player for Huntingdon in their state championship victory. He completed a 41-yard pass for a touchdown, then ran for 111 yards and a score.

The junior was the MVP for a reason and put his team in a great spot to win.
