Expert Analysis
Matt DeBary | Prep Redzone Scout
A small town defensive lineman on the rise from Franklin County, Burtch is a playmaking interior lineman who creates havoc off the snap and shows impressive quickness and explosiveness for someone his size at 6’3, 280 pounds. He’s someone that Prep Redzone has mentioned multiple times in the past who is starting to see his recruitment pick up more and more with a new recent offer from West Virginia. The Carnesville standout is only going to get better and should see his recruitment and Prep Redzone ranking only rise more and more over time.

Kennan Burtch Kennan Burtch 6'4" | 270 lbs | DL Franklin County | 2027 State GA is one of the more underrated players in the state of Georgia. He is one of the players outside the top-20 right now when it comes to the position, but I do see him finding himself to be one of the better defensive tackles in the state. Burtch has all the talent in the world, but he will look to prove that he is better than his ranking. Franklin County will be banking on him big time this offseason, and he will be someone who monitors as the season goes. Keep tabs on Burtch in 2026.

Another North Georgia defensive lineman who was an easy addition to the latest rankings update, Burtch is a physically-imposing lineman with length and above-average athleticism at 6-foot-4 270-pounds. The small-town lineman fires off the snap and uses his strong hands to fight off blocks and make a big play in the backfield. The Northeast Georgia native was one of the best defenders in the region last year and saw some respectable offers come his way this winter. Now the Carnesville native is ranked as the No. 22 DL prospect in Georgia for the 2028 class.

In November, this kid broke onto my radar. At the time, he had no recruiting buzz going for him, very under the radar. I though to myself, “there’s no way this kid stays like this.” Sure enough, I was right. I said it a few months ago, but his tape was more indicative of a P4 prospect than a sleeper. Prototype frame with the pursuit speed to chase the ball in space. Explosive off the line, can pop you at the point, just a whole list of things this kid is good at, and he is still growing. I am a massive fan of this kid, and he is a “my guy” candidate for me.

One of the more underrated defensive linemen in Georgia, Burtch is a playmaking defender with outstanding quickness and ability to blow up any particular play in the backfield. He’s lightning quick off the snap and also plays with an impressive level of physicality. The North Georgia defender brings easy D1-caliber talent and runs really well for his size. At 6-foot-4 270-pounds, he’s strong enough to overpower opposing linemen with enough athleticism to get lateral and help stop the run game on the edge. It may be only a matter of time before his recruitment really picks up.
