Young showed out in this tournament in 2025 and did so again on day one. Even though Young wasn’t available to participate during the knockout stage, his presence was felt on the way to acquiring the number one overall seed in the tournament. Young is quick and shifty, and able to make plays in tight spaces. His speed on the perimeter left defenders in trail technique. He was able to twist up the coverage and leave them behind.

Karion Young Karion Young 5'8" | 155 lbs | WR/DB Crete-Monee | 2027 IL was observed on multiple occasions in the 7v7 setting as well as live on gameday. Young plays both ways but projects to the slot, can be used as an all purpose back, and can be dangerous in the return game. Explosive with good speed and wiggle, Young is sharp with his routes, has very good ball skills, is an easy hands catcher, and shows burst after the catch as he transitions seamlessly to ball carrier. He creates mismatches over the middle, can take the top off the defense, create big plays in the short game, turn corners and make tacklers miss in the open field. Young will be looking to attract his first offers this offseason.

Young is a speed threat who can stretch the field vertically for Crete. At 5’7, 142 pounds, he uses his quickness to get open and his vision to find extra yards after the catch. His ability to take the top off a defense makes him a valuable deep-ball target.
