Out of the defensive line group on the East Team, I felt like Kalum had the most consistent impact throughout the course of the game. Kalum did a pretty good job of setting the edge – I can really only remember one time where the West was able to break a big run to the outside. Kalum also provided some pressure in the pass rush on a couple of plays, flushing the quarterback out of the pocket and forcing some well-timed incompletions from a defensive perspective.

Kalum does best winning with speed on the edge, and he did that a few times against offensive tackles in this showcase. He does have some interest from some college football programs, and is a selection in the Queen City Senior Bowl, so he has a chance to enhance his recruiting with a strong performance there, along with what he did here. Kalum takes his academics seriously, and he has a strong football IQ overall to pair with what he does in the classroom.

An excellent pass rusher, Kalum can consistently win with speed on the edge of the defense. Kalum can also hold his own when playing the run on the edge, knowing how to play with leverage and keep his outside arm free consistently. I’m excited to see if he can show to be a 3 down linebacker in this game, that can really expand his next level opportunities.

At his size, Stewart may ultimately end up as a linebacker in our rankings, but he’s so quick off the edge that he’s still there in our system. He gets off the line in a hurry and doesn’t hesitate, hitting ball carriers with force in the backfield. A lot of his highlights are unblocked, but that says more about his quickness than the offensive linemen he’s facing.

is a brute, versatile, all-out football player. Lining up primarily at edge, he not only excels as a pass rusher but also has the ability to drop into coverage and lock down the flats. At 6’0”, 225 pounds, Stewart plays with a powerful, physical style and the motor to impact every snap. His skill set projects well to the strong-side outside linebacker role at the next level, but his pass-rushing ability makes him a major asset for any college program. A true weight room warrior and difference-maker, Stewart is the kind of player who changes games.

An All-Conference selection last season, Kalum is one of the few returning players from a West Cabarrus defense that was strong and helped lead the team to the playoffs last year. Kalum ‘s quickness off the ball along with good speed for his size are always impressive to see. Those traits helped earn him an offer from Brevard College after his camp performance. I was able to speak with Kalum after the camp.
