About Kale

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I like to play an aggressive style with a focus around controlled violence. I enjoy the team aspect of the game and playing as a group.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am a team player. I have a passion for the grind of the weight room and doing all of the little things that make you successful. I have enjoyed the experience of learning the game at a new level during my freshman varsity season.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am currently involved in FFA, 4H, and4H livestock judging. I am a member of the Iowa Junior Beef Breeds (IJBBA). I have won Champion Iowa State Fair Junior Showman and World Beef Expo Champion Junior Showman. I was the lead role in my 8th grade Musical. I was the champion Intermediate Livestock evaluator for Iowa 2025, I have won many other livestock judging contests individually and as a team.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I really have pushed myself to develop my leadership skills, both on the field, at practice and in the weight room. I embrace and enjoy playing team sports not only football, but basketball as well. I understand coming from a small school we can only achieve our goals as team. I am actively involved in my church, 4H club, FFA club and reefing youth sports. I love being able to share my knowledge.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

My biggest challenge to date was being a freshman and going up against senior players. This was a mental game as much as a physical game. I had to trust myself and my knowledge of my position as much as I had to trust my coaches and what they had to offer. I had to rely on my technique and my aggressiveness to get my through the season. It wasn't always perfect but I held my own.

What type of college are you looking for?

I still have 3 years of high school football yet. I am pretty open to anything at this point. If I had the opportunity to play in the Midwest where I could be supported by my family that would be the best case scenario, but it won't limit me.

Ploog announced his presence as a freshman in 2025. The ninth-grader delivered 26.0 tackles, 13 of which were solo stops. He had 4.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks. The first thing that pops out when watching Ploog’s highlight video from this fall is his advanced physicality relative to his age. He does well in setting the edge as a defensive end and operates within the scheme. When the opportunity arises, he is quick in pursuit and in separating from blockers. Ploog has fast feet and does a nice job effectively utilizing his hands. He appears to have a frame capable of adding weight and strength without losing the agility that aids his success already.
