has been a really reliable DB for Wetumpka, especially this past season- he has been highly productive against some talented offenses across the 6A and shows a ton of potential. Godwin is really athletic and versatile in their secondary- he plays with great speed, is great at identifying plays, plays with a lot of physicality by delivering big hits, and can break on the ball to make some fantastic plays in coverage as well. It doesn’t matter where Godwin starts the play, he finds ways to make an impact every snap regardless if its a run or pass. Godwin had a massive senior season this fall- he ended up recording 119 total tackles (70 solo, 7 for loss), 2 sacks, 7 interceptions, 21 pass breakups, and 5 forced fumbles (2 recovered) on the year. Watch out for Godwin at the next level, he picked up offers from Georgia State, Samford, West Alabama, and more- no matter where he ends up, he’s going to be a playmaker!

is primarily an outside corner with elite ball skills and a competitive edge. He measures around 5’11 175. He can compensate for his shorter height and length with his leaping skills and ability to play above the rim, which he brings over from the basketball court. He fires his hands to press at the line. When he connects, he can create enough pause in WRs to disrupt timing and prevent separation. Can sometimes over-reach and get off-balanced, which can be fixed with better footwork. He has enough speed to carry with WRs vertically (11.40 100M), but his change of direction allows him to flip his hips and blanket WRs with his back to the QB. He participates in T/F events like hurdles and jumps which require twitch and explosiveness. While in phase with WRs, he isn’t afraid to assert himself physically and crowd the catch point. He spots the ball well and as I mentioned earlier, can rise through traffic to make a play on the football. Godwin is an impressive athlete with D1 offers under his belt.

Chippy, confident corner who plays a lot of press-man from the boundary but has taken some snaps out of the slot as well. Feels routes well with his hands to stay connected. Has some twitchy traits to stay glued at the stem. Flattens out well at the top of in-breaking routes with little drift. Uses the sideline effectively to pin opposing receivers. Gets his head around early to locate when his back is to the passer. Shows impressive body control and leaping to aggressively compete at the catch point.

is a super talented defensive back for Chilton County that has made a ton of plays for them this season and last week against Calera he may have had his best game yet. Godwin was a huge playmaker in this game as he recorded 7 tackles, and two interceptions as well. All four quarters, Godwin demonstrated his ability to make key stops and contribute to his team’s defensive effort- whether it was by flying around the field and making tackles or by utilizing his top tier ball-hawking abilities Godwin had himself a game. Outside of the stat sheet, Godwin provided terrific coverage and didn’t allow any separation on the receivers he was guarding. Keep an eye on him and this Chilton County defense, they’ve been balling out this season!
