I was pleasantly surprised when I watched the film of Julian Matera Julian Matera 6'2" | 185 lbs | QB Notre Dame | 2025 State NJ , quarterback at Notre Dame. Matera has strong lower-half fundamentals. He steps into his throws well and transfers his weight even better. These mechanics allow Matera to get some really spicy mustard on the ball at in tight windows. Likewise, he can take something off of it and gently loft it on the deep ball in good places where his guys can catch-and-run with it. His arm strength also shows itself when he is jumping and moving backwards, too. Timing with his receivers is something he has shown as well, such as when he connects on back-shoulder throws near the front of the pylon. Matera has the ability to duck-and-run and the smarts to evade danger and slide to safety. I thought Matera threw a very good deep ball and he is happy to take a big hit in the name of getting the ball out to his teammates.
