There aren’t many first-year football players who were able to be as immediately effective as Igo was for Daniel last fall. As a sophomore, he connected on 41-of-43 extra points and hit six of his 10 field goal tries. The lefty has excellent lift to prevent much of a chance to block his kicks at the line.
More importantly, his distances started to increase with rhythm, especially on his kickoffs. After taking over some of the duties there in October, he started pinning teams with those.
Igo, even by the staff’s assessment, hasn’t even scratched the surface. Last fall, he was still getting used to the consistencies of practice and often didn’t turn it on fully until he got under the lights. As the Monday-Thursday routine starts to improve, his numbers on Friday nights will, too.
