Well balanced with dominance in run support and pass coverage. Smith displays a quick read and react ability, instantly attacking downhill in run support to make a tackle in space with good technique, angles and physicality. Demonstrates good change of direction, lateral agility and pursuit to break with the wide receiver, not allowing any room for separation and forcing a PBU. In Zone coverage, he displaces any target of their route and timing that comes across his face.
