His ability to read, react to the play, and attack the offense is excellent. He is a good run defender as he makes many tackles at or near the line of scrimmage. He is also a good blitzer who can blitz from many different angles to put pressure on the offense. He is also a good pass defender when he drops into the defense zone to take away pass plays. Smith is a good linebacker with a ton of potential.
