Well-coached he flashes clean and controlled footwork and technique with his hand usage. Solid in press coverage, he’s patient and doesn’t lunge. He waits to strike and keeps his balance at the line. Active hands he times his jams well to disrupt timing and collisions double moves to slow the feet of WR’s. Does a great job staying attached and limiting separation. Kirkpatrick plays big and is a physical corner with the ideal size, length and frame for the next level heading into his Junior season and will only continue to grow and pack on mass over the next two years. He is a natural peddler, quick in transition and breaks fast to the ball in the air with plus length to break up passes underneath and disciplined eyes in zone coverage, often baiting bad throws over the middle or in the flats. He shows he is always around the ball forcing turnovers and is scrappy when getting off blockers and setting the edge. He plays well beyond his years and at a very high level and is going to gather plenty of attention over the next 18 months. The corona-centennial product is one of the smoothest and more fluid corners in the class across the state and has a big frame with already a strong build with plenty of room to continue packing on mass. He has very fluid movements in tight windows, shows he can quickly flip his hips and break on the ball while possessing recovery speed if beat and does a good job mirroring receivers and using the sideline to his advantage. He is a very patient player that stays balanced within his frame and is extremely physical at the POA when coming up in run support or getting off blocks. Already an 8 offer kid, he will be a 15+ offer guy by this time next year and should explode onto the scene this Fall.
